WELCOME TO OUR HOME OF EIGHT YEARS.

The property is located 25 km north of Toowoomba and is reached via the New England Highway.

Its elevated positioned (615 metres above sea level) takes in sweeping views of the surrounding environs including the northern suburbs of Toowoomba.

We feel the property is unique in that it lies 15 minutes from all amenities at the growth centre of Highfields yet, provides wilderness privacy and solitude.

We designed both the homestead and cottage with several criteria in mind:

  • Reflect the Australian rural architectural character,
  • Blend in with the surroundings,
  • Make best use of the position in relation to views and breezes,
  • Require minimum maintenance and up-keep,
  • Use light and airy open plan layout.

The homestead has three metre wide verandahs on the North, East and Southern sides. It contains four large bedrooms (three with walk-in-robes), two bathrooms/toilets, rumpus room, a large (108 square metres) open plan living/dining/kitchen (with walk-in pantry), laundry and, storage room.

Bedrooms and living area all open onto verandahs via sliding glass doors.

In keeping with the scale of the house, ceilings are 3.3 metres (11 feet) in height while in the main living room they are 4.3 metres (14 feet) high.

We take considerable satisfaction from the fact that all the timber for both dwellings was sourced from the property and milled locally. The property is 50 ha (125 acres) in area. Its topography comprises a ridge running East-West and falls away to the North into a gully that contains a spring fed creek. Creek water siphons into a 3,000 gallon tank from which it can be pumped up to tanks at the shed. There is also a water trough at the creek for times when we move our horses to the lower areas of the property.

Also included is a forestry plot of approximately 8 ha which was planted 7 years ago as a joint venture between ourselves and the Department of Primary Industries. While there are some good stands of timber overall, results have been patchy and we are presently seeking to terminate the joint venture agreement.

Horses and mountain bike riding are a significant focus of our family activities.

The property ajoins 120 - 160 ha of vacant paddocks whose owners allow us to access for horse riding. Also located nearby is the Geham State Forest that contains numerious fire trails which we use for both horse and bicycle riding. With minimal traffic we find local roads also suitable for these family activities.

Our children attend the local Geham Primary School with a bus stop 1 km from our gate. We also cycle the 7 km to school with the children.

Toowoomba boasts excellent secondary education facilities and for this the bus pick-up point is located 3 km from our gate.

After eight years we are confident in asserting that our property offers a unique family experience for those seeking a rural lifestyle. Similarily, the property is suitable for an extended family or, those professionals who work from home.

The property cannot be built out and will always retain its seclusion despite the rapid suburban growth of areas North of Toowoomba.

We are offering the property for sale at aus$2.1M

Caretaker and handy-man facilities are available by ourselves if required.
